The municipality of Amsterdam has created a new island as an extension to the IJburg district. This island, which is called Centrumeiland, will consist of self-build houses and apartment buildings of building groups and other bottom-up initiatives.

In 2018 the first building plots were sold. Our studio is working on various individual houses in the first building block 14. These terraced houses are six meters wide and can have a maximum height of seventeen meters. The houses will be individually designed according to the specific needs of their future inhabitants. All houses are designed with large window openings and high-quality interiors. Some of the houses will be provided with garages, roof terraces, balconies, bay-windows, winter gardens and roof-top greenhouses.

The five houses are designed as zero-energy buildings and rain water will be stored on the plots themselves. Where possible, sustainable building materials will be applied. The start of the building process is scheduled for 2019.
