Sustainable villa

The client for a free standing villa in Almere wished to realise an energie-sufficient building with a classical appearance.

By designing a compact volume the villa has a good relation between the living space and the facade surface. The facades have been carefully designed with traditional brickwork and Belgian lime stone. The building technology is based on the activation of the concrete construction. Thermal energy is been taken from a deepness of 20 m from the ground being processed through a heat exchange unit. By a network of pipes the energy is transmitted through the concrete floor elements. In the summer the system can be reversed to cool the building down.

Furthermore the villa is provided with sunpanels on the roof, a balanced ventilation system, wall heating and cool elements in the ceiling. The building received the for The Netherlands highest possible A++ energy level in 2011.
