In 2016 the construction of a unique terraced house on a corner plot in Almere-Poort was finished. This 'atelier house' was designed with a maximum of space and daylight. Thanks to the glass facades this terraced house has the spatial qualities of an artist’s studio. At the same time this house is very suitable for a family or as a place to live and work in.
At the rear a large void has been created to connect the living room on the ground floor with the open working space on the first floor. This void of nearly 6 metres allows for remarkable diagonal sight lines throughout the house. Other special features are the free-standing kitchen island, the 5 sleeping rooms, 2 bathrooms and a large roof terrace.
The high window in the rear facade contains an invisible steel portal allowing for extra stability. The wooden windows with triple and sun-protecting glass avoid overheating of the house in summer months. The house is certified with the highest Dutch energy level A++.
